Dust in high - z radio - loud AGN ⋆

چکیده
We present continuum observations of a small sample of high-redshift, radio-loud AGN (radio galaxies and quasars) aimed at the detection of thermal emission from dust. Seven AGN were observed with IRAM and SEST at 1.25mm; two of them, the radio galaxies 1243+036 (z ∼ 3.6) and MG1019+0535 (z ∼ 2.8) were also observed at 0.8mm with the JCMT submillimetre telescope. Additional VLA observations were obtained in order to derive the spectral shape of the synchrotron radiation of MG1019+0535 at high radio frequencies. MG1019+0535 and TX0211−122 were expected to contain a large amount of dust based on their depleted Lyα emission. The observations suggest a clear 1.25-mm flux density excess over the synchrotron radiation spectrum of MG1019+0535, suggesting the presence of thermal emission from dust in this radio galaxy, whereas the observations of TX0211−122 were not sensitive enough to meaningfully constrain its dust content. On the other hand, our observations of 1243+036 provide a stringent upper limit on the total dust mass of < 10 M⊙. Finally, we find that the spectra of the radio-loud quasars in our sample (2 < z < 4.5) steepen between rest-frame radio and the far-infrared. We discuss the main implications of our results, concentrating on the dusty radio galaxy, MG1019+0535.

Herschel-ATLAS:The connection between star formation and AGN activity in radio-loud and radio-quiet active galaxies
We examine the relationship between star formation and AGN activity by constructing matched samples of local (0 < z < 0.6) radio-loud and radio-quiet AGN in the HerschelATLAS fields. Radio-loud AGN are classified as high-excitation and low-excitation radio galaxies (HERGs, LERGs) using their emission lines and WISE 22-μm luminosity. AGN accretion and jet powers in these active galaxies are trac...

We present the results of a K-band imaging survey of 40 arcmin in fields around 14 radio-loud AGN (6 radio galaxies and 8 quasars) with z > 1.5. The survey, 80% complete to K < 19.2 and complemented by R-band imaging, aimed at investigating whether extremely red objects (EROs) are present in excess around high-z AGN, and to study the environment of z > 1.5 radio galaxies and radio-loud quasars....

We present the discovery of a high-redshift, X-ray–selected active galactic nucleus (AGN) by the Calan-Yale Deep Extragalactic Research (CYDER) survey: CXOCY J033716.7 050153, located at z 1⁄4 4:61, the second high-redshift AGN discovered by this survey. Here we present its optical, near-IR, and X-ray properties and compare it with other optical and X-ray–selected high-redshift AGNs. The optica...
متن کاملThe host galaxies of radio – loud AGN : mass dependencies , gas cooling and AGN feedback
The properties of the host galaxies of a well–defined sample of 2215 radio–loud AGN with redshifts 0.03 < z < 0.3, defined from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), are investigated. These are predominantly low radio luminosity sources, with 1.4 GHz luminosities in the range 10 23 to 10 W Hz. The fraction of galaxies that host radio–loud AGN with L1.4GHz > 10 W Hz is a strong function of stella...
